WHAT IS PHLEBOTOMY?

The term phlebotomy means “to cut a vein” in Greek.  It is the process of making an incision, or as we call it a puncture, in a vein for the purpose of collecting blood.  An individual who is qualified to perform phlebotomy is called a phlebotomist or a phlebotomy technician.
